Volvo to launch Electric Cars by 2019

As per the latest announcement from premium car manufacturers, Volvo Cars, the company will only manufacture cars with electric motors from the year 2019 onwards. This is a historic move from one of the biggest car manufacturer and may very well change the face and the future of the automobile industry.

This announcement is coming in wake of the latest trend amongst car users which is gradually moving away from the Internal Combustion Engine to electrified engines. Electric cars are definitely the future of the automobile industry and companies like Volvo want to make it a part of their core business plan. This is one of the most significant moves by any of the automobile manufacturers in the recent past and highlights the beginning of a completely new chapter in the auto industry.

As per Haken Samuelsson, President and CEO, Volvo Cars, “People are increasingly demanding electrified cars and we want to respond to the customer’s needs.”

Volvo will introduce a whole portfolio of electric cars across its complete model range and will include fully electric cars, mild hybrid cars and plug in hybrid cars. Volvo plans to launch 5 fully electric cars from 2019 to 2021. In addition to that you will also get a range of hybrids in diesel and petrol. Volvo Cars will soon have the broadest range of electric cars that are on offering in the automobile industry.

This announcement also highlights Volvo Cars commitment to minimize environmental impact, reduce carbon emission and make our cities cleaners as no car will leave the factory floor of Volvo after 2019 without an electric motor.

Volvo Cars in an earlier announcement had made a commitment to sell a million electric cars by 2025 and this latest announcement is a step towards that.
