Volkswagen plans to launch an affordable electric car with a starting price of €20,000 ($21,729 / £17,020) in 2027. Although the details are still being kept secret, it is known that the board of directors has already approved this project. The company has been working for a long time to offer compact and affordable electric cars in the price category of around 20,000 euros.

More information is expected closer to launch. The line will include compact cars and crossovers from Volkswagen, as well as an SUV from Skoda and a car from Cupra. All four models will be built in Spain, and at least some of them will cost less than €25,000 ($27,150 / £21,277).
